The “Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety Order) 2005” states that all employees must be provided with adequate fire safety training.

There is good reason for this. Adequate fire safety training can ensure that all employees have a good understanding of fire, risks and prevention as well as how to respond in the event of a fire.

Every commercial premise’s should have appropriate fire- fighting equipment installed usually in the form of portable fire extinguishers, These extinguishers are only safe to use if you have received training on their uses and how to operate them. Using certain types of extinguishers on certain types of fires can actually make the situation worse and increase the danger to the person using them as well as others.

Fire training should be given to staff on their induction to the workplace and re-fresher training given if and when circumstances change within the premises.
